Approve your Reddit Ads budget and check billing

Confirm your advertising budget, complete Reddit billing, and verify promotional credits before launch.

Before you begin

Identify the person who can approve advertising spend and the person who owns the payment method. They may be different people.

Confirm which Reddit ad account Pepperland will manage. Pepperland recommends that your company pay Reddit directly and approve campaign spending before launch.

1. Agree on the campaign budget

Confirm the campaign’s purpose and destination, start and end dates, currency, media budget, separate Pepperland fees, applicable taxes, total out-of-pocket limit, and who can approve budget increases or pauses.

For a fixed-spend campaign, Pepperland recommends setting a campaign spend cap at the approved media budget. Reddit describes this as the maximum amount a campaign can be billed over its lifetime. It is not a monthly limit that automatically resets.

Ad groups can use daily or lifetime budgets, but Reddit warns that an ad group may exceed its budget by up to 20%. Do not rely on an ad group budget alone as a strict spending limit. Account for every active campaign when reviewing total exposure. See Reddit’s budgets and bidding guide for additional details.

2. Check the billing setup

In Ads Manager, select the correct ad account and open Billing. Confirm the company payment method and billing address. Add or update the card directly in Reddit, and provide tax information where required. Never email payment card details to Pepperland. See Reddit’s payment setup guide and tax information guide.

With card billing, Reddit charges as your outstanding balance reaches its billing threshold and collects any remaining balance toward the end of the month. You may receive multiple charges in one month. The billing threshold determines when payments are collected; it is not a campaign spending cap. See Reddit’s billing and payment guide for more information.

Partner access does not include billing management, so your company’s billing owner must complete these steps.

3. Verify promotional credit separately

Skip this step if you do not have a promotional offer.

Review the offer addressed to your company and confirm the eligible ad account, claim instructions, required spend, deadline, credit amount, and expiration date.

Have the ad account owner claim the offer before qualifying spending begins. Reddit states that only the account owner can view and accept promotions, and spending before an offer is claimed does not count toward its requirements.

Once issued, credits apply to future advertising spend, not an existing balance. Check the available credit and expiration date in Billing. See Reddit’s advertising credit guide and billing guide.

Do not assume campaigns will stop when the credit runs out. Your company remains responsible for spending beyond the available credit. Review Reddit’s advertising terms.

Agree with Pepperland on what to do if the credit does not appear. Do not approve spending your company cannot cover without it.

4. Give written launch approval

Review the final campaign with Pepperland. Approve the ads, destination, audience, budget, campaign spend cap, and dates in writing before launch.

Confirm whether the approved media budget includes any promotional credit or whether the credit would fund additional advertising. Do not assume a credit authorizes extra spending.

Ask for a revised plan if the budget, campaign dates, or promotional offer changes. Adding a payment method or granting account access does not replace launch approval.

5. Review charges and delivery

Review campaign spend in Ads Manager and payment activity in Billing. To download a receipt, open Transaction History, find the transaction, and select Download.

Each payment generates a separate receipt. The payment date may differ from the dates when the advertising was delivered, so compare the billing period rather than relying on the card charge date alone. See Reddit’s billing and receipt guide.

For an unexplained charge, provide Pepperland with the ad account name and ID, transaction reference, amount, and relevant dates. Hide payment details in any screenshots or documents you share.
